Leaving the presidential suite

During my trip through Canada I had a regular Facetime call with the owner of the company I work for. We were regularly talking to each other throughout the whole trip to update each other with latest news and ideas about what to do after my return to Germany. This time was different.

Due to recent developments the demand to create more workplaces in my company had risen. We already had started a branch over in Tunisia to compensate the increased demand for qualified and motivated developers. At the time of our phone call the owner of our company would go to Tunisia every other month to look after the employees. For new members of a team a training of few weeks was scheduled at the beginning of their contracts. He had the idea to change this and bring a person to Tunisia that would supercharge our efforts. Someone who would stay around constantly and make sure the new team members were onboard faster and after being overseen and coordinated by someone who knows. So his choice went on me and as an always curious person I couldn’t reject his wish.

So from one day to the other the plans of touring North America in the van changed and I had to put the car on the market for a quick sale as the plan involved me returning from the trip 3 months earlier and moving to Tunisia during the month of October. Said and done. The car went on Craigslist and this post is here to remind me what it took to build the perfect travel companion for what will soon become the memory of a furious road trip.
