When we made a stop at the film studios of the DPRK I wasn’t expecting too much. I though we would be strolling through some empty facades with almost no action going on. A perfect place to store away some tourists that are asking too many questions anyway.
Where all the movies are supposed to come from
But it turned out differently. The set was occupied by real actors that were in the process of shooting a martial arts movie. Complete with catering, costumes and extras waiting for their assignment. As a small extra the set consisted of some old american cars as well as Army trucks and Jeeps. One of the more often requested backdrops of footage shot in the DPRK you can guess. So we strolled through the scenes. Observing the practice of the actor. And observed we were as well. Our group roused their attention. After a while we had to pose with the youngest actor on the set to make sure his mom had some nice pictures to show to friends and family. The kid behaved like a professional and met the requirements without the blink of an eye.
