The tallest arch of triumph stands in Pyongyang. At 60 meters high and 50 meters wide it commemorates the liberation of Korea being a Japanese colony. Once you take the elevator up to the top of the building you have a nice view of Pyongyang. The mandatory movie screening at the end depicting the construction and opening of the monument was held in a room of a similar size as the monument itself. Unfortunately the Internet holds no copy of the cute 1980 style movie that is shown to visitors.
The place itself is full of hidden images. Engraved in the structure is the song devoted to General Kim Il-Sung. Each of the 25.500 blocks of stone should represent a day in his life. As ever so often during this trip the tour was carried out by a lovely girl dressed nicely in the traditional cloth called Hanbok.
