Diving on Isla de Mujeres

When you want to go diving from Isla de Mujeres there are generally many shops available to get you going. Sometimes though when the weather goes crazy they have to close the port. I was wandering around town to find a dive shop that would take me out during my stay anyway. Pocna Hostel turned out to be a good bet. They operate a dive shop on their premises. So I booked a 2 tank dive for the next day. We had to wait 2 hours for the rain to stop and get clearance for leaving the island. But finally the wait turned out great.

Comments: A lot of rain at the morning. Weather got better during noon so we could go out for a 2 tank dive that day. Calm and crystal clear sea. Gear was below average and I thought the first stage could be leaking. Captain fixed things before finally going down. Interesting and very shallow dive. A lot of different sculptures form an artificial reef and got more and more covered by corals. Saw lobsters, turtle and barracudas.

Comments: Reef in very good condition. Nice dive around a segment with lots of fish and intact coral. Not too ambitious dive but good to train breathing and buoyancy.
