The night I came back from the monasteries I watched the movie “Victor Frankenstein” in a small tea shop across the street of my hotel. When I left, the sound of drums and flutes came to my ear. I walked down the alley only to find me in a procession of Hinduists worshipping a truck loaded with flowers in the form of Ganesha.
Fun fact the truck built up quite high. As all cables in South-East Asia appear to be laid openly above the streets they needed to be pushed up by boys escorting the truck with self made bamboo pods.
The people of the Hindu quarter where coming out of their houses offering coconuts and flowers to the procession. Old ladies were washing the feet of what appeared to be a priest. The man was accompanied by a boy holding a bowl with a glowing fire. Adding to the heat of the night this poor guy had to move the bowl all time to prevent himself from burning.
