Sunset in Banff National Park

The tonal range of the sunset in Banff National Park is extraordinary. A few minutes after the sun went down the colors changed from oversaturated blues to beautiful light blues, oranges and even partial crimson skies. The roads were empty at that time. We were pretty much one of the last cars on our way to Banff. The trip took hour by hour because we pulled over every other kilometer to grasp at the marvelous scenes that lay in front of us.

Game of tones

I started to experiment with combining multiple exposures to a HDR version of my image. I like the additional tonal range and depth these pictures show. Often I find the effect to be too much of it all but with these landscapes I have the feeling it turned out just about right.
