Stopover in Phnom Penh

I left Battambang at 15th of February. Being a passenger on a small Mini-Van with a capacity of 10 we arrived to the capital of Cambodia some 5 hours later. My original plan to visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and take a bus to Kampot later that day didn’t work out. I opted for the afternoon bus the next day instead and found a hostel a few meters down the street.

I had a fabulous lunch, a nice stroll, a terrifying visit to the Tuol Sleng Museum and some hard drinks afterwards to digest what i just saw.

The capital is amazing. You can feel the uprising at every corner. There are construction sites all over the city and you still find some french colonial architectural gems here and there. My impression of the city is not that bad at all. There seems to be a fairly large expatriate scene around here. Many companies have their Cambodian operation headquarters in the outskirts of the city.

I quite liked it. Next stop: Kampot
