The Songkran Festival is a 3 day New Year celebration centered mainly on renewing by splurging heaps of water on the people surrounding you. From my point of view it is something you should not miss out on. The city of Bangkok was where I celebrated with a bunch of crazy and wonderful fellows. Unfortunately my camera is by no means waterproof, and waterproof is one of the attributes you learn to appreciate a lot during these days. On the first day we held a party at our hostel with free flow beer, water bombs and wetting everyone that came along.
At the other night we went to Khao San Road only to find us engaged in a serious waterfight with tourists and locals alike. But the true highlight was a night out at the RCA alley with a group of Thais and Travelers from the guesthouse where I stayed. The outside street in front of the Onyx club was packed with thousands of peoples, buckets of ice water and tables full of what seems to be the Thai favorite drink: Whisky Cola.
Words can’t describe how fast things got out of control with this unique set up. I was delighted and amazed of the kindness and friendliness with which hoards of Thai people danced the night away. No single moment where you’d feel uncomfortable. Except from the moment when you’d search for a Taxi back home in the middle of the night soaked to your pants.
