Southeast Asia really is a gem to see loads of local markets. When we explored the Inle lake we were able to visit one of the bigger local markets on the lake which takes place near the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda on Saturdays.
Fishermen are selling their catch of the day as well as local farmers sell their meat, flowers, nuts and beans and other marketeers the many small necessities of daily living.
In the middle of the market lies the Pagoda. This way the customers of the market can kill two birds with one stone. Gold leafs are sold at the entrance to make the worshippers able to earn merit for their next life after doing the groceries.
